It’s easy as a young person in todays world to get bogged down and discouraged in ones walk of faith. As we grow closer to our launch date for the world race this feeling of uncertainty has often been my narrative. The anxieties of leaving home, family, and friends combined with the unknowns of the world has left me feeling very discouraged at times. During these feelings of uncertainty I have found myself turning to the story of Moses.

As a young man Moses was cast from his home and sent out into the wilderness to live a life that was completely foreign to him. He not only was lost physically during this challenging point but also mentally and spiritually. Moses had nothing to do but to start over and create a new life in the desert and outside of his palace life in Egypt. Taken from his family at a young age and discarded by another as a young man. He was a man who belonged to no tribe or people and yet God still pursued him. Not to scorn him or even to restore him to what he was, instead He used him to lead a nation and to set His people free.

This story of redemption, which is so common in the Bible, is something I have held to so tightly leading up to my departure. In my moments of uncertainty and fear I remember who God used to set the Israelites free from Egypt. Not a macho man of the people, but Moses. Moses; the murderer, the lost, the stuttering, the persecuted, the terrified. He wasn’t unlike any of us today. Lost and alone, God still had a purpose and a vision for Moses and the same goes for us. There is nowhere we go that God cannot find us and use us for His glory.

During this next year I am sure there will be moments when I am feeling discouraged and alone. In these moments I need to remember that God is for me and He is with me. The same goes for anyone anywhere. We are never too far gone to be found and loved by God. If we find ourselves lost and alone, God will be there. He might be in a burning bush, in column of fire, in manna from heaven, or even in my tent. He is all around and He is here to stay.

While myself and my family might be nervous for this next chapter of my life we must remember who will be walking by my side and has been since the beginning. The same God who walked with Moses!

Please continue to pray and support my teammates and I as we embark on our journey as the hands and feet of Jesus. It has been an absolutely amazing walk of faith and trust within God thus far and I pray it continues to be so across all borders.

I love you guys and my hope is that those who worry for me find peace in the story of Moses like I did. If you have any questions or things to add please reach out in my comments.

Love you and God bless!

  1. BROTHER! You’ve excellently voiced the current situation for so many of your peers. This offering that we’re setting before the Lord is one that he LOVES. I heard this statement a few days ago that I’ve been chewing on and I think it’s a good one and quite the word to follow up this blog.

It’s not sacrifice that pleases the Lord, but obedience and YOU’RE DOING THE THING!

I’m STOKED to meet you in just a few days, my dude!!

    I love ya,

    AWM
